Kirkcaldy Kestrels produced their best performance of the season on Saturday, defeating Aberdeen Lynx 3-2 at Fife Ice Arena.

The reigning Scottish National League (SNL) champions had dropped just one point this season and were the favourites to record another victory.

However, the Kestrels refused to be denied and bagged an important win that moved them back up to third place in the SNL standings.

Josh Saunders opened the scoring for the home side late in the first period, but Lynx battled back to take a 2-1 lead by the 29-minute mark.

Chris Wands levelled the scores in the 33rd minute, setting up what proved to be a thrilling final period.

Scott Jamieson made it 3-2 to the Kestrels in the 47th minute, and the team worked manfully to protect their lead from that point.

Netminder Andy Little made several fine saves to ensure Steven Wishart’s side got over the line.

The Kestrels switch their attention to the Scottish Cup on Saturday when they visit North Ayrshire Wild in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
