Kirkcaldy Kestrels’ hopes of winning silverware this season were ended by Dundee Rockets in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.

The Kestrels were narrowly defeated by Aberdeen Lynx in the Scottish National League (SNL) play-off final last weekend and were eager to make amends against the Rockets.

However, the SNL champions completed a memorable double after a hard-fought encounter at Dundee Ice Arena.

George Pitcaithly, Scott Jamieson and Allan Anderson were on target as Steven Wishart’s side slipped to a 5-3 defeat.

While they ended the 2024/25 campaign empty-handed, reaching two finals was a solid return for the team in a transitional season.

Eleven players aged 20 or under have iced for the Kestrels this term, and the experience they have gained is invaluable to their development.

The squad’s more experienced players have also played a key role in driving things forward throughout the season.

Everyone connected to the Kestrels is understandably frustrated that silverware has proven to be elusive, but the guys have given it their all.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the team this season. Your backing for local players means the world to us.
