Kirkcaldy Kestrels’ hopes of ending their regular season fixtures on a winning note were scuppered by Paisley Pirates on Sunday.
Finley King put the Kestrels ahead, but the visitors hit back to take a 2-1 lead into the first break.
CJ Giannandrea equalised in the middle session to set up what home fans hoped would be a productive final period.
However, the Pirates scored twice in the final 20 minutes to secure a 4-2 victory.
Steven Wishart’s side will switch their attention to the Scottish National League play-offs this weekend.
They visit Edinburgh Capitals on Saturday (6.30 pm) before hosting North Ayrshire Wild (6.00 pm) the following day.
