Kirkcaldy Kestrels enjoyed a hugely productive weekend on the road, recording impressive victories in the league and cup.

The Kestrels triumphed 8-1 at Kilmarnock Thunder on Saturday to move up to third place in the Scottish National League standings.

Finley King (2), George Pitcaithly (2), Ross Henderson (2), Harris Piotrowicz and Josh Saunders bagged the goals for Steven Wishart’s side.

The team switched their attention to the Scottish Cup the following day and produced a memorable performance at Murrayfield Ice Rink.

A 4-1 victory over Edinburgh Capitals put the Kestrels firmly in control of their semi-final tie ahead of the reverse fixture in February.

Kyle Horne opened the scoring late in the first period before Joe Somerville and Conor Duncan extended the advantage in the middle session.

The Capitals pulled one back in the 34th minute, but Allan Anderson restored the Kestrels’ three-goal cushion midway through the third period.

The winners of the tie face either Dundee Rockets or Aberdeen Lynx in the final.
