Kirkcaldy Kestrels kept themselves in contention for a top-three finish in the Scottish National League with a superb victory over Aberdeen Lynx on Saturday.

Scott Jamieson got the ball rolling with the opening goal in the 19th minute, laying the foundations for a strong performance in the second period.

Chris Wands, Josh Saunders, Finley King and Allan Anderson made it 5-0 during the middle session as the Kestrels stepped on the gas.

Joe Durkacz pulled one back for Lynx early in the third period, but the visitors never looked like reducing the deficit further.

The result moved the Kestrels two points behind third-placed Lynx with a game in hand. Dundee Rockets and Edinburgh Capitals fill the top two spots.

The Kestrels are back in action against the Capitals at Murrayfield Ice Rink on Saturday (6.30 pm).
