Kirkcaldy Kestrels had a mixed weekend in the Scottish National League, picking up two points from their fixtures against Dundee Rockets and Kilmarnock Thunder.

The Kestrels gave a good account of themselves at Dundee on Saturday but were ultimately on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline.

The two sides were level at 2-2 heading into the final ten minutes, but the Rockets eventually edged over the line.

Allan Anderson and Scott Jamieson were on target for the Kestrels.

Steven Wishart’s side were eager to bounce back on home ice the following day and got the job done with an emphatic 11-1 victory over Kilmarnock.

Jamie Wilson opened the scoring for the Kestrels in the ninth minute, but Thunder quickly levelled.

A 1-1 scoreline at the first buzzer appeared to set the stage for a tight contest, but the Kestrels had other ideas.

Goals in the second period by Finley King (2), Scott Jamieson, James Spence, Grant Jamieson and Harris Piotrowicz gave the scoreline a one-sided look.

Callum McLaren, Conor Duncan, Joe Somerville and Ross Henderson added further goals in the final session to complete a memorable performance.

Piotrowicz and McLaren had a special cause for celebration after netting their first goals for the Kestrels.

The team are back in action on Saturday at home to Paisley Pirates (6.00 pm).
