Kirkcaldy Kestrels are aiming to pick up their first victory of the season in the Scottish National League (SNL) this weekend.

The Kestrels were defeated 4-0 at Aberdeen Lynx in their first outing before slipping to a 4-3 defeat on home ice against Edinburgh Capitals.

They return to action on Sunday with another tricky-looking fixture against Paisley Pirates at Murrayfield Ice Rink (5.45 pm).

The Pirates kicked off their SNL campaign with a 7-3 victory at Kilmarnock Thunder and will fancy their chances of following up this weekend.

The two sides faced each other at Fife Ice Arena during pre-season, with the Kestrels claiming a 4-3 victory after a shoot-out on that occasion.

The Pirates were also defeated 2-0 by the Capitals ahead of the new campaign but shrugged off those results in their first league outing.

Steven Wishart’s side will be eager to put their disappointing start to the season behind them by beating the Pirates at Murrayfield.
