Kirkcaldy Kestrels moved a step closer to the Scottish National League (SNL) Final Four Weekend courtesy of a thrilling victory over Edinburgh Capitals.
The visitors made a strong start to the game, opening up a 3-1 lead at the first buzzer. Joe Somerville grabbed the Kestrels’ goal during the period.
Steven Wishart’s side stepped things up in the second session to establish a 5-4 lead at the 40-minute mark.
Somerville got the ball rolling for the Kestrels before the Capitals re-established their two-goal advantage.
However, quickfire goals by James Spence (2) and Scott Jamieson turned the play-off tie on its head.
Jamieson made it 6-4 in the 45th minute, but the Capitals pulled one back with just under eight minutes remaining.
George Pitcaithly’s late empty-net goal crowned a memorable 7-5 victory for the Kestrels.
They play their final group game at North Ayrshire Wild on Sunday.
