Kirkcaldy Kestrels booked their place in the Scottish Cup final after a thrilling encounter with Edinburgh Capitals at Fife Ice Arena on Saturday.
The start of the game was delayed due to the sizeable crowd that packed into Fife Ice Arena to get behind the Kestrels.
Steven Wishart’s side held a 4-1 lead after the first leg and were in no mood to relinquish their advantage on home ice.
Both netminders stood firm during the first two periods, leaving the Capitals with a mountain to climb in the final session.
They piled on the pressure and reduced the aggregate deficit to just one goal midway through the third period.
However, the Kestrels players repeatedly put their bodies on the line to keep their lead intact and secure a spot in the final.
Their collective efforts took their toll, with nine players subsequently ruled out of the trip to Dundee Rockets in the Scottish National League (SNL) the following day.
The Rockets took full advantage, claiming a 10-2 victory to move a step closer to the SNL title.
