Kirkcaldy Kestrels’ hopes of forcing their way into the top three of the Scottish National League were dealt a blow at North Ayrshire Wild on Saturday.

The Kestrels made a quick start, with goals by Caiden Forbes (2) and George Pitcaithly putting 3-0 in front inside the first nine minutes.

The home side pulled one back before the first buzzer, but Allan Anderson restored the three-goal cushion early in the final session.

However, three goals inside the final ten minutes brought Wild level and sent the game to overtime.

A powerplay goal by Jack Neil just over two minutes into the extra period secured a 5-4 victory for Wild.

The Kestrels are back in action at Paisley Pirates on Sunday (5.00 pm).
