The club’s junior teams endured mixed fortunes over the weekend, recording one victory and two defeats across three age groups.

Fife Flames maintained their unbeaten run with a comprehensive victory at Kilmarnock U16. Caiden Forbes topped the scoring with a double hat-trick and picked up the MVP award.

Fife Redwings were out of luck at home to Lanarkshire Lightning U12. They were competitive up to the 24-minute mark, but the visitors stepped on the gas to secure the win.

Oliver Barker netted his first league goal for the club, while Lucas Scarborough collected the MVP prize. The team’s attitude was first-class, and they will have learned plenty from the game.

Fife Phantoms were defeated for the first time this season in their top-of-the-table clash with Lightning’s U14 team.

They were back-stopped by 2013 goalie Matty McGroarty. He was very good, given the magnitude of the game. Aaron Guild replaced him in the third period.

The visitors were the better side during the opening two periods, but the Phantoms responded to encouragement from the coaches to win the final session.

Ryan Venters and Artur Miezitis got the goals, while Jackson O’Neil had a goal chalked off, which would have reduced the deficit to a single goal.

Lightning ultimately deserved the win, but the Phantoms did well to fight back in the third period. Ben Spears was the MVP.
