Kirkcaldy Kestrels are well-placed to make progress in the Scottish Cup after winning the first leg of their quarter-final tie at North Ayrshire Wild on Saturday.

The respective netminders had the upper hand during the first half of the contest, but the deadlock was finally broken when Rocco Murray put Wild ahead in the 33rd minute.

Scott Jamieson levelled the scoreline four minutes later, and the Kestrels subsequently powered clear of their opponents in the final period.

George Pitcaithly and Graeme Chalmers-Allan scored either side of Jamieson’s second of the game to secure a 4-1 victory.

The two sides will face each other in the second leg at Fife Ice Arena on Sunday (6.30 pm).

The winners of the tie will play either Paisley Pirates or Edinburgh Capitals in the semi-final. Dundee Rockets and Aberdeen Lynx meet in the other half of the draw.
