The Fife Ducks Learn to Play squad welcomed their counterparts from Dundee for the cross-ice section of a ‘barrier game’ on Saturday.

The players were keen to put into practice the skills they had been working on and took to the ice on each shift with enthusiasm and a will to compete.

Coach Andrew Affleck was delighted with the players’ listening and concentration levels. They improved each period and gained more structure to their game.

The MVP awards went to Boyd Kelly for Fife and Daniel Neilson for the Stars.

On the two-thirds side of the barrier, Fife Eagles faced Dundee Stars U10. Although the scoreline heavily favoured the Eagles, both teams forced some outstanding saves from the respective netminders.

The Eagles’ top line showed tremendous poise and patience. They listened to the coaches’ instructions, picking out killer passes in the attacking zone and breaking out of their own end.

Stars created several good chances, but the Eagles stood firm at the back.

Netminder Stanley Hudson was the Eagles’ MVP, while Dominic Gilmartin picked up the prize for the Stars.

KIHC would like to thank Dundee’s players and parents for travelling down early in the morning for this productive development event.
