Fife Falcons kicked off their league campaign with an emphatic 9-1 home victory over Belfast Giants U19.

Cole Wallace (3) topped the scoring in a hugely impressive team performance. Thirteen players recorded goals or assists during the game.

They included Jack McGowan, who picked up the MVP prize after weighing in with a goal and an assist.

The coaches have spent the last weeks working on drills to connect the zones at pace and the team repeatedly implemented this against the Giants.

Fife Flames dominated the shot count against Belfast Giants U16 but had to settle for a 3-1 win after the visiting netminder produced some fine saves.

CJ Giannandrea (2) and Callum McLaren netted the goals, while netminder Aaron Guild was the MVP on his first start at U16 level.

Fife Redwings were defeated 7-2 by Aberdeen Lynx U12. Mason Kelly (2) got the goals, and Owen Wotherspoon was the MVP.

Numerous players were experiencing ‘buzzer hockey’ for the first time and will have benefited massively from the experience.

Several members from the Learn to Play group were included on the roster to further their development.

The club has also moved some goalies up to older age groups to aid their progression.

Stanley Hudson has stepped up from the U10 to the U12 team, while Aaron Guild has joined the U16 squad.

Matthew McGroarty and Jenson Reid are U12s who will be playing at U14 level this season.
